A young man’s perennial crush leads him into an unexpected threesome, he thinks it’sUn his ultimate fantasy come true. When the fantasy ends, all three are left with sobering real-world consequences, to take responsibility for their actions.

Chuck says:

Unexepectedly complex and poignant, Chad Hartigan’s “The Threesome” explores the unexpected ramifications of the title act, one that leaves both of the female participants pregnant and their partner in a no-win situation.

Hartigan and writer Ethan Ogilby manage to get plenty of laughs out of this premise but also many moving moments as well as they take the time to provide adequete background for the three principals, each coming off as sympathetic and relatable. Zoey Deutch is Olivia, her abrasive nature hiding a painful past; Ruby Cruz is Jenny, a lonely young woman whose religious upbringing would suggest she’d shy away from such sexual adventures; and Jonah Hauer-King is Connor, a well-meaning guy who’s caught between his romantic feelings for Olivia and his sense of responsibility to Jenny.

Wisely, the film doesn’t wimp pout and offer up a trite solution to this dilemma but rather a well-thought out conclusion that casts this situation as one brimming with hope.
