Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson star as an aging pair of retired police officers come out of retirement to catch the infamous outlaws Bonnie & Clyde.
Pam says:  If you’re looking for a high-paced, typical Western, you’re going to be disappointed, but if you’re interested in the Bonnie and Clyde story from a new point of view, this is for you.  This film is a introspective look into lawmen Frank Hamer (Costner) and Maney Gualt (Harrelson) as the reflect upon their former lives and the guilt with which they live.  Beautifully shot, we are transported into a bygone era as the two men slowly and methodically chase their prey.  With a slower pace, we get a great perspective into these two men’s personalities, particularly as they see the technological changes that have passed them by adding a bit of humor to a rather dark film.  It’s a bit too long, but Costner and Harrelson create interesting characters with chemistry and charm.
Chuck says: This is very much an old-fashioned movie in more ways than one as it takes its time to give us a solid character study about two men trying to deal with a modern era they don’t understand and are resistant to be a part of.  Director John Lee Hancock and his production team do a wonderful job of recreating Depression-era America, while the script delves into what makes these men tick.  The film is far too long but Costner and Harrelson make it worth your while what with their poignant, sincere performances.
