Hulu’s “Paradise” Season 2, starring Sterling K. Brown as Xavier Collins, a Secret Service agent protecting the President of the United States after a global catastrophe, returns for a gripping second season. And if you didn’t watch Season 1, get on it. You can thank me later.
Season 2 picks up exactly where the first left off, filling in the blanks and gradually revealing what really happened to the world. We meet new characters, including Annie, played by Shailene Woodley, a survivor of the catastrophic event. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear there are more survivors out there, and the two worlds, Xavier’s underground bunker in Colorado and the harsh realities of the outside, begin to collide.
This is a smart, gripping story that keeps viewers on edge. Murder, plotting, greed, and virtue are woven together through a cast of complicated characters, creating a riveting narrative. With a team of writers behind the series, the story consistently finds ways to immerse the audience, making us feel like participants as we wonder how we might react in the same situations. Through carefully placed flashbacks, the show builds a fully realized world with equally well-developed characters.
The acting is superb across the board. Brown delivers another powerful performance as Xavier, while Julianne Nicholson as Sinatra and James Marsden as the President bring depth and intensity to their roles. And a new face, at least to me, Nicole Bloom as Jane Driscoll stands out as a memorable supporting character.
Where this story ultimately leads remains to be seen, but Episode 6 of Season 2 drops soon on Hulu. And honestly, this series alone is worth the price of the streaming service.
