Dora, a teenage explorer, leads her friends on an adventure to save her parents and solve the mystery behind a lost city of gold.

Chuck says:

Not only is this adaptation of the classic television show an entertaining adventure, as well as a wry take off of “Radiers of the Lost Ark,” but it’s also a strong statement for not only girl power but teenage empowerment as well.  Parents of those who watched the original cartoon will appreciate the post-modern, intelligent way that its many elements are presented here, while kids will be taken with the charisma and likability of the main character and the humorous adventure she stumbles into.  Great family fun.

Pam says:

This is a vibrant and educational live-action version of the beloved television show, “Dora the Explorer.”  Filled with suspenseful puzzle-solving dilemmas, the effervescent teenaged version of Dora, played by Isabela Moner, will keep young minds buzzing.  The characters are over-the-top, but this, too, will engage younger viewers’ attention.  It’s fun and funny, yet still is able to teach kids valuable moral and educational lessons.  This is definitely a kids’ movie, though and while adults will enjoy it, it’s not a film like “Inside Out” or “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” which I’d recommend seeing with or without a kid in tow.
