A detective recruits his Uber driver into an unexpected night of adventure.

Chuck says: There is not an original thought in this buddy-cop movie that finds polar opposites – tough guy cop Vic (Dave Bautista) and doormat Stu (Kumail Nanjiani) – thrown into a rote exercise of violence and one-liners.  Some of the jokes land but far too many go nowhere, while the chemistry between the two leads is hit-and-miss. Rent “Lethal Weapon” or “Rush Hour” to see this particular brand of movie done right.

Pam says:  Sadly, this misadventure drives itself right off a cliff as Vic (Dave Bautista) and Stu (Kumail Nanjiani), an odd couple to say the least, unwillingly pair up to thwart thugs and live to tell about it.  The predictable story line and stilted performances make the editors job difficult to find and salvage the comedic elements of the film.  Nanjiani is always comedy gold, and while he’s good in his role, the chemistry is off between the two and with a lackluster story, it’s a recipe for disaster.  There are some pretty hilarious lines that will no doubt be memorable, but the film as a whole is exactly what we expect in the summer months–a disappointment in entertainment.
