Actor David Arquette attempts a rocky return to the sport that stalled his promising Hollywood career.
Chuck says: This confused documentary chronicles actor David Arquette’s return to the world of professional wrestling as he seeks to find respect among the those who grunt, scream and sweat in the square circle. If you’re one of the uninitiated – like me- you might not know that Arquette was named the champion of the WWF in order to promote his 2000 feature Ready to Rumble. This caused an uproar among wrestling fans and Arquette was regarded as a joke in a world that he desperately wanted to belong to.
The film looks at his efforts to transform himself into a legitimate wrestler who will be respected by fans and fighters alike. It’s a long arduous journey, one filled with many obstacles and quite a bit of manipulation. Many of Arquette’s difficulties seem manufactured resulting in a climax that’s predictable and anti-climactic.
