Chris Pratt and Ethan Hawke star in the story of a young boy who witnesses Billy the Kid’s encounter with Sheriff Pat Garrett.

Chuck says: The directorial debut of actor Vincent D’Onofrio is a loud, abrasive exercise that bludgeons the viewer rather than entertains.  This imagined tale of Billy the Kid (Dane DeHaan) and Pat Garrett (Ethan Hawke) is factually inaccurate and narratively bankrupt as the story has no shape or purpose.  This is pointless, meandering movie that is a trial from beginning to end and is the early frontrunner for worst film of 2019

Pam says: This film really has no cohesiveness and while the brutal start had my attention, particularly as a set of siblings were on the run, I quickly lost interest.  Billy the Kid has a heart and Hawke’s character becomes an emotional father figure, two aspects to the story that are quite unexpected and rather unlikely making it preposterously unbelievable.  There’s no narrative arc and became a dull exercise in how to not to make a Western.

Check out the trailer here…it’s better than the film.
